I started as a trombone player and became a biomedical engineer. I grew up in a musical family—my mother a choir director, my father a music producer—so music was part of my life from the beginning. I competed throughout high school, placing 1st in Southern California and 2nd in the State of California for high school trombone players.

Two weeks before school started, everything changed.

I switched schools, switched majors, and took a leap of faith into engineering with no prior experience. What I found was the same thing that drew me to music: the process of creating, refining, and mastering something complex.

I learned quickly, pushed myself hard, and discovered a passion for design and problem-solving.

Today, I’m a student lead at my universities 3D print lab, and also the Engineering Student Senator where I represent the entire student body for the Gordon and Jill Bourns College of Engineering.
